Syrup Preservatives for Shaved Ice or Snow Cone Syrups

Directions: To preserve one gallon of syrup simply add 1/4 ounce of sodium benzoate and 1/2 ounce of citric acid when mixing your flavors.

  • Flavor concentrates will last 2 years sealed (lid on) in a room temperature environment out of sunlight - Expiration date on bottle - (DOES NOT need preservatives).
  • Ready to use syrups will last at least 1 year, sealed (lid on) in a room temperature environment out of sunlight - Expiration date on bottle - (DOES NOT need preservatives).
  • Sugar free simple syrup base will last 1 year, sealed (lid on) in a room temperature environment out of sunlight - Expiration date on bottle - (DOES NOT need preservatives).
  • Mixed flavors (flavors that you are mixing with concentrates, water and sugar) will last 1- 2 weeks in a room temperature environment out of sunlight - WITHOUT preservatives added.
  • Mixed flavors (flavors that you are mixing with concentrates, water and sugar) will last 2-3 weeks REFRIGERATED - WITHOUT preservatives added and MUST MUST BE KEPT IN A REFRIGERATOR.
  • Mixed flavors (flavors that you are mixing with concentrates, water and sugar) will last 1-2 months in a ROOM TEMPERATURE environment out of sunlight - WITH preservatives added.

TIP: If adding preservative (citric acid, sodium benzoate) rinse out measuring cup in-between adding each preservative.
